I’m currently drinking an earl grey tea with oat milk, sitting in the cafe that hosts two of my boyfriend’s escape rooms (in Brighton, England). We are visiting for a holiday and so he can help set up the next escape room with his business partner.

It’s wonderful and weird to be back in the cafe I spent so much time trying to build my business in, during 2018-2020. That version of me was so determined, but so stuck. If she can hear me, I’d like to tell her she builds her dream business. I think she already knows that, because she never once considered quitting.

I’m also working on my next offer, which will be opening for the new year. Feels full circle.

Goals I’m working on right now:

    Creating a new offer

    7 figure business

    Building a community in Sydney

  • Hey! I’m Sarah.

I set goals to feel alive.

    Sweaty palms.
    Racing heart.

    Can’t think of anything else.

Combining my background in Psychology with my training as a High Performance Coach, I help ambitious entrepreneurs, creatives and athletes achieve their goals.

l created this blog to share behind-the-scenes of my own goals and help you push your limits. I'm creating what I wish existed for me to consume.

People often ask if I’ll climb Mt Everest like my parents did in the 90's (as depicted in the 2015 film, Everest).

While I’ve done a little bit of mountaineering (Kilimanjaro in 2011 and Everest Base Camp in 2007) what most people don’t know is that my late dad was also an entrepreneur. I feel most connected to him through our shared love of entrepreneurship and attempting the impossible in all areas of life.

Change

Right now, I feel like the world is in a state of total change. Everyone in this world will be affected by the current state with coronavirus. Here are some journaling questions I’ve been journaling for myself today, that I hope can bring you some positivity and certainty in an uncertain time.

  1. If this crisis was an opportunity for a fresh start, what would I do differently in my life?

  2. Who do I need to be in order to come out of this experience stronger?

  3. What could I do to help someone else right now, even in a tiny way?

  4. How could I contribute something beautiful to the world right now?

Sending you all so much love, and if you want anyone to talk to, feel free to send me a message. We are all hear for each other ❤️️

Who Do I Need to Be?

IMG_5340.JPG

Most of us ask, what do I need to do to get the result I want?

When we should be asking, who do I need to be to get the result I want?

Worrying is Suffering Twice

Screen Shot 2020-03-12 at 6.11.12 PM.png

We need to talk.

No, not you and me.

Me and my anxious brain.

Or you and your anxious brain.

Look.

I know your washed your hands 4 times before 10am, and you used sanitizing wipes to open the bathroom door today, and you didn’t eat anything until 2pm even though you had fruit in your bag because you were in public and afraid of consuming a sneezed-on banana.

The world is a scary place right now.

But you know what’s a worse place? Your brain.

And you can’t control the world. But you can control your brain. You can control the thoughts that your brain chooses to project.

There’s a second strain of virus that no one is talking about. It’s the anxiety that is surging thanks to global media and the internet. Do you think they have a health count on how many people have been infected with anxiety since coronavirus broke out?

I bet it’s festering.

I’ve been anxious all day. But I’ve decided that worrying about getting infected is just like being infected twice.

So no more, okay brain?

Okay.

Why Understanding That Your Mindset Is A Menu Will Change Everything

man-in-gray-suit-reading-the-menu-3528716.jpg

Your mindset is like a menu at a restaurant. You’ve got all of these different beliefs about who you are on the menu.

And you can only order from the menu.

What’s on your menu?

I am a nervous flyer
I am ugly
I am someone who can’t control myself around food.
I am bad at handling money.

If you try to order something that’s not on the menu you won’t get it.

If you try to get on a plane and feel calm, but your menu says “I am a nervous flyer” that’s what you’re gonna get. You’re going to start acting in accordance with that identity.

The dude in the photo is a smoker. It’s one of his beliefs, or he wouldn’t be smoking. Right? It’s on his menu. He has to change the menu before he can order something different for his life.

If I handed you your menu, would you be happy to order from that every single day?

Nervous flyer, bad with money, addicted to food?

Good news, you’re the chef, and you can change what’s on the menu.

Mirror Mirror

IMG_3778 2.JPG

When you look in the mirror, how do you see yourself?
How you define yourself is what controls your life.

Do you see someone who can take on their wildest dreams?
When I look in the mirror I see someone who can do 100 push ups.
I see someone who can build an empire.

When I look in the mirror I tell myself I’ve got this.
I tell myself I can change the world.

Because if the girl looking back at me doesn’t believe it, why would the rest of the world?

The only way to get what you want is to be the kind of person who gets what they want. So make BEING the kind of person who achieves your goals your number one priority – and your goals will automatically become reality.

Money

IMG_7706.JPG

Money - it’s the only thing more taboo than sex.

When I was a kid, I’d do anything to get out of talking about money. I would rather pay for my whole table’s dinner out than discuss how to split the bill.

As a society, we pretend to have more of it than we do have. Sometimes, we pretend to have less of it than we do have.

These are the rules:

You’re supposed to automatically have it, but not want it.
You’re supposed to get it easily, but you’re not supposed to share how.
You can’t be too poor, or people will look down upon you.
You can’t be too rich, or people will look down upon you.

What kind of society is this? I think we’re all subconsciously messed up from having no one to talk about money with. We’re repressed.

The ’60s was the sexual revolution, I think the 2020s should be the financial revolution.

FREE THE FINANCIAL NIPPLE!

Imagine if people talked about it. Like properly.
Imagine if your teachers, your doctors, your storekeepers, your friends, your uncle, your cousin, and your neighbours all shared how much money they make and have.

Imagine if on your Facebook profile, next to where you went to school and what you relationship status is, we put our financial status.

Debt: X amount
Assets: X amount
Savings: X amount

Why is that such a wild idea?

We all have to use money. And yet, we’re terrified of talking about it. After many years of contemplation, I believe it is for these three reasons:

  1. We’re afraid others will judge us for the amount we have (shame)

  2. We’re afraid we’ll offend someone because our amount is more than theirs (guilt)

  3. We’re afraid we’ll lose it/have it stolen (fear)

So we decide that money is private. BUT WHY?

Because we’ve given it more personal meaning than it actually has.

Your net worth is not your self-worth.

Period.

This is me opening up the beginning of a conversation around money that I think is mighty time we started having.

And who knows, maybe we’ll spark a revolution of people sharing their financial status along with their relationship status on Facebook.

The Only Reason

The only reason you don’t have what you want is because you don’t believe you’re the kind of person who gets to have it.

The ONLY reason you are not making money as an entrepreneur is because you don’t believe you are someone who makes money as an entrepreneur.

The ONLY reason you are not losing weight is because you don’t believe you are someone who can lose weight.

The ONLY reason you are not eating healthily is because you don’t believe you are someone who eats healthily.

The ONLY reason you are not in a happy relationship is because you don’t believe you’re someone who has happy relationships.

It’s all about who you believe you are. If you believe you are a non-smoker, it doesn’t take any effort to not smoke, right?

Tony Robbins says that the strongest force in the human personality is our need to make our actions consistent with how we define ourselves – even if that definition is negative.

It’s why some people never struggle with money, and others never struggle with weight, and others never struggle with relationships.

It’s their standard.

It’s fully ingrained in who they are.

They are X kind of person. And therefore, they act in X kind of way.

What kind of person are you?

(Hint: you get to decide).

Perfection

Perfection is “like auditioning for a part you already got” – Liz Gilbert

As the old saying goes, perfect is the enemy of good.

One of the easiest traps we fall into as a society, as a culture, and especially as big dreamers is to believe we can only create, begin, make, publish, and accept work that is perfect.

But as Big Magic author, Liz Gilbert says: Perfection is “like auditioning for a part you already got”.

You’ve made it. You’re here! On planet earth, at the best time in history to be alive. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. You are enough.

Create because it’s fun. Go after your dreams because your heart longs to. Don’t try and be perfect.

I wish I’d known this much earlier. I mean, of course I knew of it as a concept. But I didn’t really know it, you know?

Every day I create content that is so far from perfect it’s silly. Even this blog post is a mash up of imperfect, unedited words. But I don’t need to be perfect, I’ve given it up. I just want to create, to push my limits, to dream, to help other people feel the fire in their soul that burns bright for their dreams.

Screw perfection. I’m so done with it. You can let go too.

The Impossible Oobah Butler

When anything is possible, why not do something outrageous?

Millennial filmmaker, Oobah Butler got his backyard London restaurant to #1 on TripAdvisor. Only it didn’t exist. The ultimate bamboozle.

He didn’t stop there. Next up, crashing Paris fashion week – as a fake designer, Georgio Peviani.

Then once again, he fooled the world by sending fake versions of himself to do media interviews.

What I admire about Oobah isn’t his excellently honed trickster skills, but his belief that anything is possible.

Want to get to #1 on TripAdvisor? Easy.
Crash Paris Fashion Week? Piece of cake.
Get not-so-uncanny doppelgangers to stand in for you? Of course.

I think there’s a lot to learn from Oobah’s creative, no-mission-too-big approach and his can-do attitude.

Doesn’t he just make you think about things from a new angle? How could you be more creative in your goal pursuits?

It all starts with the question: What if…?

Simplify Everything

What could you do to simplify your dream?

Simplicity is one of the keys to creating your dream.

Removing all of the unnecessary tasks and distractions in disguise, leaving only what is necessary.

Only what is important.

Only what will actually bring results.

Trashing the rest.
